Soccer Formation

What is a soccer formation?

Is it necessary for a team to use a soccer formation when they are about to play the game? What is this formation exactly? What if a team decided to not use a soccer formation, does that mean they will perform less on the field?

Why is it important to use different formations when two teams are playing? Is it a strategy thing? Well maybe it is, I mean a clueless fan like me wouldn’t know or really understand soccer dynamics of the beautiful game. But the little understanding that I do have shows that soccer formation plays a very important role in the field.

Who decides which formation must be used when a team is playing? Maybe the head couch decides. I mean the coach makes the decisions right? Or maybe it is the captain of the team? Arg! I don’t know but it doesn’t matter. What matters is the fact that each team must have a formation.

Okay here it is people. A formation describes how the players in a soccer team are positioned on the field and different formations may be used depending on the skills of your opponents. This applies also if your team wants to play attacking or defensive soccer.
